So, for some reason, I got an email from Muscle and Fitness Hers with the subject of “We want to feature YOU” with the possibility of getting a 2-page spread in an upcoming magazine.
And what did I do?
I submitted photos and entered.
WTF have I done? I doubt, to the very marrow of my being, that I will be selected as I am so far from what they feature, but sliver of a chance, I’m also hoping that is the reason that I may actually win. To have someone who is normal that the majority of the population can relate to.
Fitness isn’t about looking fit. When I competed, I looked fit, but I really wasn’t. I looked healthy, but I have never been so unhealthy than when I was getting ready to step on stage and the aftermath post competition.
There’s more than having a “pretty package” and I really hope I can spread that message on a wider scale and I hope getting that email was a sign. I don’t remember ever receiving an email from them before despite, apparently, being subscribed to them.
If that’s not a sign, I don’t know what is!
The truth is, health, wellness, exercise, and striving to be better will always be a part of my life, but my priorities have shifted to not be based on physical appearance. There’s SO much more to life than striving to get the “perfect body” when there’s no such thing! There’s more to life than dieting.
