Maybe it’s because of the day I had (yesterday), but I feel like I’ve hit rock bottom. A crappy sleep triggered binging on junk food, I’m in a mood/sugar depression and I have come to the conclusion that I need to be accountable about my health journey, so I’ve created this blog to keep it specific to this. My website, www.kayleenorton.com, will also contain my meal plans, complete with macros, workouts, and daily updates for anyone who wants to follow along.
I had contemplated calling it my “Fitness Journey” but I’m not really training to compete in anything – except the 5/10k races coming up in the summer – but this journey isn’t about fitness. I had also considered calling it my “weight loss journey” but that goes against everything I believe in. Weight loss tends to be synonymous with dieting and even though I’ll be watching what I eat and the quantity/volume, I don’t want to associate it with losing weight. Yes, I will likely lose weight, but it will be a symptom of healthy habits – eating healthy, nourishing foods that I enjoy, combined with regular exercise.
I will be combining mental/emotional training, habit and diet reconstruction, and exercise routines. These will address my body (diet and exercise), mind (habit), and soul (meditation) and these will form the foundation of my health journey.
Now, as I embark on my journey, I encourage you to embark on your own. If you don’t know where to start, that’s okay! I’ve been either directly or indirectly involved in the industry for decades and I still find it confusing! What I post on my page will be through trial and error for what works for me. To make it more interesting, this will be the first time I’ll be on this journey as Vegan.
